This past weekend, Ian and I went camping in Aviemore.... We left Aberden after work on Friday evening round about 6.30pm and arrive to the campsite at approx 8.30pm. It was still quite light but by the time we finished to put up our tent it was dark and we needed the head torch... I was quite cold, I got up several times during the time and in the morning I was in a grumpy mood. A cup of tea and a hot shower did the trick and afterwards I was ready to go.... the sun was shining and the temperature was mild... we took the car and drove to Loch Garten a gorgeous place nearby... we walked around the lake, stopped for our packet lunch and a bit of sun bathing and then up again for another bit of walking.... in the evening we went to the local shop, bought one of this desposable barbecue, a nice steak, couple of leeks and peppers and a bottle of Tuscan wine... the perfect ending to a very pleasent day... Sunday we walked from the campsite to Loch an Eilein, it was again a sunny day. Took a lot of pictures which I have yet to develop and post, will do as soon as ! Almost forgetting ... on Sunday morning while having our bowl of porreidge we saw a red sqirrel crossing the path just a few metres from our tent, it was holding in his mouth a little baby squirrel... it was the cutest thing. They both run up the trunk of a big tree and they jumped from branch to branch , at one point, when our binoculars had lost track of the two little creatures we heard a terrible bang.... one of the brances had broken and the sqirrel had fallen from a considerable hight... it was fine and after a few seconds to recover from the shock it shoot up again.... no sign of the little baby which must have been deposited somewhere before of the incident. Unfortunately, I did not manag to take a shot at the squirrel or indeed at the crested tit, a very elusive little bird with a characteristic white and black crest which can only be found in the Grampian area.... I spotted it on Sunday afternoon not far from our tent but it was too quick for my camera..... .
